Tropical Storm Arthur Forecast Verification
Written by Derek Ortt on April 5, 2009.
There was only one verifiable forecast issued on Arthur due to its very short lifetime. The only verifiable time was the 12 hour time. Therefore, there is no meaningful verification that is available.
The genesis of Arthur was not expected due to the proximity to land. However, a post analysis indicates that Arthur was a tropical storm for nearly 18 hours before updates were commenced. In fact, Arthur was not classified as a storm in real time until after landfall. This resulted in no lead time for Belize.
