Tropical Storm Olga Forecast Verification
Written by Derek Ortt on May 3, 2008

Only one forecast was issued on Olga due to the 2007 Fall AGU meeting. That forecast had errors close to the long term mean and the statistics can be found here.

Since Olga was initially subtropical, Gale and Storm Warnings were recommended instead of Tropical Storm Warnings. The Gale Warnings continued to be recommended even after the tropical transition to avoid any confusion. These were appropriate as they cover the winds of the tropical storm range. In fact, these may replace Tropical Storm Warnings in the future in NWHHC recommendations, since a Gale Warning is for lower tropical storm force winds and a Storm Warning is for upper tropical storm force winds. The warnigns for Puerto Rico were recommended with less than ideal lead time due to the storm forming just north of the territory. Table 2 contains the recommended watches and warnings.

For synoptic history, and official watches and warnings, please see the National Hurricane Center Tropical Cyclone Report
