Subtropical Storm Andrea Forecast Verification
Written by Derek Ortt on November 29, 2007

There were no verifiable forecasts issued on Subtropical Storm Andrea. Instead, the storm updates contained the necessary information. None of the forecasts contained within the updates indicated that Andrea was expected to make landfall. The updates did correct indicate the threat of rain and wind, though the rainfall amounts in the updates did not materialize.

While there were wind gusts to tropical storm force observed along the coast, NWHHC did not recommend a tropical storm warning. NWHHC only recommends a Tropical Storm Warning for tropical cyclones. Since Andrea was subtropical at this time, a warning was not required. The decision to not recommend a Gale Warning was made based upon the forecast keeping Andrea offshore. Since sustained winds of 35KT did not occur, this decision was the correct one.

For synoptic history, as well as official watches that were issued, please see the national Hurricane Center Tropical Cyclone Report.
