Hurricane Isaac Forecast Verification
Written by Derek Ortt on June 18, 2008
There were only two forecasts issued on Isaac. However, the track errors on those two forecasts were well above the long-term mean. The main forecast problem was not depicting the acceleration to the NE. Intensity forecast errors were much lower and comparable to or better than long-term mean errors.
A Tropical Storm Warning was recommended for the Avalon Peninsula at 1800 UTC 10/2. This was dropped when the cyclone became extra-tropical.
