Tropical Storm Zeta Forecast Verification
Written by Derek Ortt on June 8, 2006
There were only two forecasts issued on Tropical Storm Zeta. Initially, the decision was made to not issue forecasts because the storm was expected to quickly dissipate. However, once it became apparent that the storm would be around, and had some potential to reach hurricane intensity, forecasts were issued. The storm then dissipated fairly rapidly.
What forecasts were issued tended to be about average, with the exception of the lone 48 hour forecast, which had a track error about 70NM greater than the long-term mean. Intensity errors were about average.
