Tropical Storm Alpha Forecast Verification
Written by Derek Ortt on May 11, 2006
There was only one verifiable forecast written by Alpha due to its short duration and the focus on Wilma. Forecast 2 is not verifiable because the forecast points depicted are not the forecast points intended. For the lone verifiable forecast, errors were quite small through 24 hours, but larger than the long term mean at 48 hours. Intensity errors were less than 15KT throughout.
A Tropical Storm Warning was recommended at 1800 UTC, October 23, and dropped at 1500 UTC the next day. The warning provided about 12 hours of lead time before landfall.
