1500 UTC 11/9/2009 HURRICANE IDA FORECAST #12
For official information, please refer to the National Hurricane Center or local emergency management officials.
Ida has weakened rapidly during the past 12 hours. Latest aircraft data suggests that ida is barely a hurricane. The satellite signature has also degraded significantly. In fact, Ida no longer looks like a tropical cyclone.
It is likely that some additional weakening will occur before landfall, though to be safe, the forecast only shows slight weakening and is above the guidance.
The track reasoning is largely unchanged from previously. No need to repeat.
The statement indicating hurricane conditions are exected will remain in the updates until Ida weakens below hurricane status. At that time, the statement will be replaced with tropical storm conditions expected.
