Rainfall accumulations of 5-10 additional inches can be expected. This is on top of up to 30 inches that has already fallen at some locations. This is expected to cause severe flooding in north and central Florida.
Tropical Storm conditions are expected for the Florida East Coast from Jacksonville to Vero Beach and from Panama City to Yankeetown. Please refer to the National Hurricane Center, your local National Weather Service or local emergency management officials for the official watches and warnings.
Residents of the remainder of Florida, coastal Georgia and the Carolinas should closely monitor the progress of Fay.
Currently, the center of Tropical Storm Fay is located near 29.9 N and 82.9 W. This places the center 40 miles NW of Gainesville. Fay is moving to the west near 6 mph. This general track is expecte dto continue for the next day or so. There is a chance that fay will move into the Gulf of Mexico.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph. The pressure is estimated at 996 mb. Some slight additional weakening is likely today.
